Funeral Services For David Black Held Sunday

David Daniel Black, 49, of West died Friday at District Two Hospital in Durant after a long illness.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22 from Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant with the Rev. E. G. Potts and the Rev. Ed McDaniel officiating. Burial was in West Cemetery.

Mr. Black, a native of Coffeeville, was a retail merchant, a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Lee Edwards Black: a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Lynn Musselwhite; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David C. Black, all of West; four brothers, James Black, Charles Black, W.W. Black, and John L. Black, all of Jackson; four sisters, Mrs. Lottie Nix, Prairieville, La., Mrs. Pauline Gamble of Greenville, Mrs. Elizabeth Hodges of Durant, and Mrs. Dorothy Graves of Brandon; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers were Doug Raymond Lovin, Denton Edwards, Frank Farmer, Dr. A.A. Derrick, Jr., Dr. Sidney Johnson, Johnny Edwards, Roy Edwards, and Marsh Self.
