William Reed Hancock, 83, of Hurt passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

He was the loving husband of Hazel Rebecca Hancock for 64 years.

He was born May 15, 1937, in Charlotte County, a son of the late Charlie P. Hancock, Sr. and Mary Loraine Waddell Hancock.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, William Hancock, Jr., and wife, Lisa of Evington; one daughter, Wanda Moreland, and husband, Scott of Gretna; one brother, Charlie P. Hancock, Jr of Drakes Branch; one sister, Sarah Moore of Charlotte Court House; grandchildren, Dennis Moreland and wife, Kristen, Jason Moreland, Tiffany Scearce and husband, Richard, and Amber Lewis and husband, Spencer; great-grandchildren, Alexis Scearce, Natalie Scearce, Bentley Scearce, Jaycee Moreland, Ethan Moreland, Ankor Lewis, and Sparros Lewis.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021, Penuel Baptist Church by the Rev. Carlton Gunter with interment to follow in Altavista Memorial Park. A viewing will be available from 12 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2021, at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista, and other times at the residence.
