Daniel "Randy" Gray
July 2, 1940 - February 8, 2021

Daniel "Randy" Gray, 80, passed away on February 8, 2021 following his battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born July 2, 1940 in Virginia, Randy moved to the Bakersfield area in 1959 where he met his sweetheart, Jolynn, and were later married on January 21, 1961.
After moving to Bakersfield, Randy began his lifelong career in the oilfields, first working for Getty Oil and later retiring from Texaco. Randy's true passion in life was building race cars. Beginning in the mid 1960's there was hardly a track on the west coast that hadn't had one of his cars win on it, with drivers such as Delbert Mooney, Roger Mears, Huge Pearson, and Joe Ruttman, just to name a few. Following his retirement, Randy began his dream of building a 1940 Ford street rod. It was a project that spanned almost 15 years as he fabricated, by hand, the entire truck. Unfortunately, because of his disease, he never got to drive his own truck he was so proud of. But in 2019, for his 79th birthday, the final touches were put on the '40 Ford and he finally got to take a ride in his street rod. It was a moment the entire family will never forget.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jolynn; his children, Brian (Tracie) Gray, Taren (Vince) Mulhause, Shawn (Angie) Gray; his grandchildren, Alisha (Chris) Cooper, Shannon Gray, Kristopher (Brogan) Mulhause, Shelton (Jason) Seely, Shawn Gray, Jr., Lacey Chrissakis, Brea (Derrek) Diogo, Shyan Chrissakis; his great-grandchildren, Emerson, Porter, Tanner, Cameron, Parker, Keagan, Zoee, and DJ; sister, Sue Brooks, and brother, Jerry Brooks.
A special thanks to Irma Luna and the staff at Pacifica for their Christian-centered care and support during the last few months. May God continue to bless these wonderful caregivers.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 25th at 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Park Northeast, 3700 River Blvd. Pastor Kevin Hardy of Olive Knolls Nazarene will officiate.
