Evelyn Howell, 99, passed away February 5, 2021, at Glenwood Place in Vancouver, Washington. She was born in Sumas, Washington, in 1921 to Charles and Martha Christen. Evelyn married Vernon Howell in 1938 and lived in Whatcom County, Washington, until 1955 when they moved the family to Vancouver, Washington.
Evelyn worked as a school bus driver and switchboard operator, but spent most of her time caring for her family at home. She enjoyed participating on local bowling teams, traveling, was a sports enthusiast and an avid Portland Trail Blazers fan.
Evelyn loved spending time with family and adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Arlene Funk (J.R.); son, Mark Howell; grandchildren, Becky Bittner (Jim), Traci Viers (Bart), Tyler Huff (Sherri), Kelly Mandavia (Sujal); 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Howell; and daughter, Lana Proffitt; parents; brother, Leonard; and sisters, Vera, Loie, Aura and Carol.
