EASLEY, SC - Opal Newsome Bagwell, 72, of 117 Centerfield Lane, died Saturday, January 6, 2007, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Forest Byrd and Armenta White Newsome. She was retired from Woodside Mills, where she was a cloth inspector, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was a part of the Ladies Sunday School Class, the Ladies Circle Class, and the church choir.

Surviving are a son, Ricky Bagwell, and wife, Jean, of Liberty; a daughter, Nancy James, and husband, Ralph, of Easley; a sister, Margaret Hughes of Easley; three grandchildren, Jamie James and wife, Christine, Stacy Hudson and husband, Tony, and Benji Bagwell and wife, Carrie; three great-grandchildren, Quinn and Hunter Hudson and Ashley Bagwell; and a special friend, Frank Burrells. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Roy Bagwell; a brother, Forest Byrd Newsome Jr.; and a sister, Bernice "Bobby" Holder.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church, with Reverend Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown, where the family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m., and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The family is at the home.
