Sarah Wilma Mabe Freeman was born in Stokes County, NC on March 8th, 1929 to the late Walter Jones Mabe and Claudie Belle Joyce Mabe. She attended Pine Hall School and grew up farming. “Wilma” retired from Gem Dandy where she worked for 40 years. She enjoyed baking cakes and was extremely good at it, and was strong in the Primitive Baptist Faith.
Surviving her is her sons; Joseph Freeman, Jr. and wife Mandy, Darrell Freeman and wife Michelle, Son-in-law Dicky Minor, siblings; Morris Mabe, Mary Bullins, Zula Manuel, grandchildren; Tiffany Amos Gann, Samantha Freeman Brown and husband Scott, Heather Bowling and husband Kevin, Derek Freeman and wife Ashley, Step-grandson Jason Minor and wife Samantha, great grandchildren; Will Gann, Alex and Ashton Brown, Emily, Hayden and Daniel Bowling, Logan, Nathan and Cullen Freeman, step-great grandchildren; Lindsay Pruitt and husband Tyler, Jonathan Brown, David Minor, Tyler Minor, Kelcie Minor, Makenah Minor and Tegan Minor. She was preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Joseph Freeman, Sr., and daughters Kathy Amos Minor and Sarah Lynn Freeman.
Mrs. Wilma Freeman will Lay in State at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison, NC Thursday February 11th from 1 pm until 6 pm, and Friday February 12th from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. The Freeman Family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Kirk Sanders and Life Brite Family Medical of Danbury and Mt. Valley Hospice.
