Mrs. Kathleen Mabe Hutchins, 87, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale.

Mrs. Hutchins' funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel in Stokesdale, with Elder Milton Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.

A Stokes County native, Mrs. Hutchins was born on January 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Walter James and Claudia Joyce Mabe. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith, and attended Northview and Walnut Cove Primitive Baptist Churches. Mrs. Hutchins was a member of the Walkertown Garden Club and an avid gardener.

Surviving are her children Pattie Hutchins Sacrinty and her husband, Tom, of Belews Creek, Betty Jo Ellender and her husband, Jack Royall, of Southport, and Wesley Dean Hutchins and his wife, Mary, of Walkertown; sisters Mary Bullins of Stokesdale, Ruby Dodson of Winston-Salem, Wilma Freeman of Sandy Ridge, and Zula Manuel of Germanton; a brother Morris Mabe of Madison; seven grandchildren Matthew Sacrinty and his wife, Martha, Jeffrey Sacrinty and his wife, Brandi, Joseph Ellender, James Ellender, Jeremy Ellender, Mallory Hutchins and Reid Hutchins, a great grandchild Andrew Sacrinty, and special family member Joe Bill Ellender.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Wesley Hutchins, infant brother Roger Mabe, and brothers Stanley Mabe, Clarence Mabe, and Claude Mabe.
