Marlene Clifton Bunch, 84, of Spivey Road, Hobbsville, NC, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 in her home. Mrs. Bunch was born in Washington County on March 20, 1932, and was the oldest of eight children born to the late Aaron Lindsey and Virginia Davenport Clifton. A retired nursing assistant from Chowan Hospital in Edenton, she was a member of Hobbsville Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin Bunch; and by four of her siblings. Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Bunch Edge and husband Dalton of Currituck, and Donna Bunch Martinez and husband John of Chesapeake, VA; a son, Mike E. Bunch and wife Mary Jane of Hobbsville; five grandchildren, Kimberly Edge Dowdle, Kelli Michelle Edge, Christopher Martinez, Justin Martinez, and Quinton Bunch; and four great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Joshua, Kinley, and Ryder. Also surviving are a sister, Doris C. Zafra; and two brothers, The Rev. Ted Clifton, and Jerry Clifton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Hobbsville Baptist Church and will be officiated by her pastor, The Rev. Tim Dannelly. A private burial will follow in the Bunch Family Cemetery, with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the social hall immediately following the church service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hobbsville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 69, Hobbsville, NC 27946.
