Frederick L. "Bud" Crawford, 98, of Springfield, died at 1:15 pm, Sunday, February, 7, 2021 at his home. He was born April 9, 1922 in Williamsville, IL, to Lewis A. and Marianna Merlow Crawford. He married Claire "Kaye" Wiedlocher on August 7, 1943 and she preceded him in death on July 20, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Hank) Cronister and Dr. Karen (Dr. Stephen) Soltys both of Springfield. Two Sons, Frederick L. (Judy) Crawford of Wentzville, MO and Larry Joseph (Cath Posehn) Crawford of Woodland, CA; daughter-in-law, Sharon Crawford of Sherman; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Timothy Crawford; sister, Marie Johnson and brother, Dr. James Crawford.
Frederick was a USAF veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of St. Agnes Church.
He was employed by Crawford Cycle Company until 1962 and worked for Sangamo Electric until 1969. After several years of employment with the State Department of Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Public Health, he retired in 1987. He was active until his death managing rental property and enjoying life with his family.
Visitation: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Agnes Church.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Inter Veteran's Burial Detail and the United States Air Force.
