Age 80, passed away on February 21, 2003, at his home after a short illness. He was born on February 14, 1923, in Shiocton, WI., son of Rudolph and Mary (Lettman) Schwandt. On June 21, 1941, he was united in marriage to Rosan Herminath and they shared over 61 years together. Marlyn lived his entire life in Shiocton and was a life long member of the First Lutheran Church. Marlyn and his family owned and operated the Schwandt Implement business for many years. He also worked for Fox Tractor of Appleton for approximately 20 years and traveled world wide for their company. Marlyn was a WWII veteran and served his country for two years in Germany. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 512, and the 70th Division Trail Blazers.
Survivors are his wife, Rosan, a son, Barry (Jane) Schwandt, Shiocton; a daughter, Donna (Robert) Bentle, Hortonville; five grandchildren: Amy (Robert) Liebergen, Jennifer Kruse (Fiancee John McCandless), Thomas (Lynn) Bentle, James Bentle and John Bentle and six great-grandchildren. Also survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Schwandt, a brother-in-law, Floyd Huse, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Delbert, Harley and Virgil Schwandt; four sisters, Esma Wincentsen, Evelyn Knutson, Florence Bourg and Ruth Marie Schwandt.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2003, at 4 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Shiocton with Pastor Paul Hinz officiating. Friends may call at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
