Edith E. Johnson Services Today LEVELLAND (Special) – Services for Edith Elizabeth Johnson, 83, of Levelland will be held at 10 a. m. Tuesday in Levelland’s First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Moore, Pastor, officiating.
Graveside services will be at 4 p. m. MDT in Artesia, N.M., under the direction of Geo. C Price Funeral Directors of Levelland with Rev. David Matkins, Pastor, of First United Methodist Church of Artesia officiating.
She passed away at 9:10 p. m. Saturday, October 16, 1993 in Levelland’s Methodist Hospital.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Bentonville, Ark. to William Walter Williams and Agnes Taylor Williams. She graduated from The University of Oklahoma on June 5, 1933 with a Bachelor of Arts. Mrs. Johnson married Allen Wallace Johnson on August 8, 1936 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She lived in southern New Mexico until moving to Artesia, NM in 1950 where she resided until moving to Portales, NM in 1963. After retirement in 1975 she moved to Levelland, TX until her death.
Mrs. Johnson was a case worker for the New Mexico Department of Human Resources for fifteen years until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also an accomplished pianist.
She is survived by two sons, Ron and his wife Jan of New London, CT and Randy and his wife Sherry of Abilene; one daughter, Glenda Shamburger and her husband Carl of Levelland; a brother Roy Williams of San Diego, CA; a sister Dorothy Miller of Alamogordo, NM; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Johnson; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Williams; and a sister, Irene Williams. provided by contributor 47523138)
