She was an alumnus of Fayetteville's Central High School, Class of 1963.
Mary married Charles Michael "Mike" Farrar, son of William Parker "Dick" Farrar and Robbie Pool, who predeceased her.

Mary Ellen Scott Farrar, 76, of Fayetteville, TN passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Lincoln Medical Center. Visitation will be at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. with a graveside service immediately following at 2:15 p.m. in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
Mary, a devout Christian, was known for her faith in the Lord and her love of sharing it with others. She had many hobbies including cooking and craft-making. Her infectious laughter and uplifting spirit would light up any room and will be greatly missed by those she loved.
Mary was born January 5, 1945 to the late David Wilson and Margie Lillian Bagley Scott in Lincoln County, TN. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Priscilla Scott Mills of Fayetteville, TN, and Judy Scott Dickey of Lynchburg, TN.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, Kristie Leigh Farrar of Fayetteville, TN and Carrie Denise Farrar of Binghamton, NY, grandson, Dathan Michael Farrar of Fayetteville, TN, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Hands of Mercy Outreach Center, 101 Easy Street, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
