Joy Chiyoko (Nishiguchi) King passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at her home in Reno. She was 92 years old.

Joy was born to Sam and Yaeno Nishiguchi in Utah on June 28, 1928. She moved with her family to Gerlach, NV, in 1933 and later to Reno, NV, graduating from Reno High School in 1945. Joy married Algin J. King in Sacramento, CA, in 1957. When Al retired from the military in1972, Joy, Al and their four children moved back to Reno from Plattsburgh, NY.

Joy enjoyed skiing when she was younger and became an avid golfer. She was a member of the Reno Women's Golf Club and the Sierra Sage Ladies Club. Joy enjoyed spending time with her family and relatives and always had a smile for everyone.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Al King; father and mother, Sam and Yaeno Nishiguchi; brothers Roy, Art and Ray Nishiguchi; sisters Mary Chadwell, Ida Otani, Bessie Allard and Grace Nishiguchi.

She is survived by her children, Deborah, Curtis, Doug, and Jeff King; grandchildren, Larry, Alicia, Kimberley, Justin and Nancy; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Elaine (Mimi) Nishiguchi Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

She will be missed.
