Born July 11, 1940 in Curwensville, he was the son of Harvey and Ruth (Sunderland) Bennett. Mr. Bennett had been a dragline operator for both Benjamin Coal Company and Bell Resources. He loved to hunt and fish.
On September 17, 1960 in Berwinsdale he wed the former Donna Marie Rickard who preceded him in death on February 3, 2017. He also was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson John Hess, and a brother Richard Bennett. He was the last member of his generation.
Surviving are 4 children: Donald Lee Bennett of Luthersburg, Mari Jo Reese and husband David of Tyrone, Raymond D. Bennett Jr. and wife Tina of Bells Landing, and Wayne Allen Bennett of Curwensville. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Tyler, Adam, Amber and Eric; and 4 great grandchildren.
At the request of Mr. Bennett, there will be no public visitation and private services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Reverend Stephen D. Shields officiating. Interment will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery of Grampian.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
