Aileen Steele, 2160 W. Walker, died at her residence Monday, Jan. 1, at 8:10 a.m.

She was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Randolph, the daughter of J.A. Steele and Quilla Curtis. She attended public schools in Paris and Paris Junior College. She worked for Empire Life Insurance Co. from 1942 to 1962 as a secretary and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving her are one sister, Laverne Steele Wilkerson of Tyler, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Steele in 1953, and Leon Steele in 1952 [Sic: James Leon Steel died 1981].

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home.
