James Copeland Roberts was born Sunday, July 29, 1855 in White County, Tennessee, to William Claude "Pappy" Roberts and Mahaley K. Copeland Roberts.

He married Martha Ann Vest, a daughter of William M. Vest and Annie B. Crow Vest on Wednesday, November 15, 1876 in Morgan County.

The children of James and Martha Roberts are Claude James Roberts, Maude M. Wallace, Ura Smith, Alvie Petway Roberts, Sarah Roberts, Lillian Wilson Sandlin, Elkin James Roberts, William Erby Roberts, James Luke Roberts, and Mary Annie Hubbard.

J. C. ROBERTS CALLED HOME

Funeral services for J. C. Roberts, 88, widely known resident of the Neel section, will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at the Neel Methodist church.

Mr. Roberts passed away at his residence at ten o'clock Tuesday morning. The deceased is survived by five sons, C. J., A. P., E. J., W. E., and J. L., all of Hartselle 2; three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Smith of Nashville, Mrs. L. E. Sandlin of Hartselle 2, Mrs. Annie Hubbard of California; 45 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Neel church at 11 o'clock by L. E. Toon and Rev. Bud Bynum.

Interment will be made in Johnson's chapel cemetery, Mutual Service directing.
