Longtime Shawnee resident Josephine (Ozeretny) Brewer, 91, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 30, 2021. She was born in Prague, Oklahoma on March 19, 1929 to Henry and Mary (Kubicek) Ozeretny. Josephine and her husband, Hank were united in marriage on March 5, 1949 in Shawnee where she resided from that time until her death.

Josephine was loved and admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was an active member of the Oklahoma Bluegrass Association as well as Temple Baptist Church where she formed lasting friendships. She and Hank were avid Title VI volunteers for many years. If there was a job to be done in any organization in which she participated, Josephine was always one of the first to volunteer her time. She had a passion for giving and serving. From delivering delicious homecooked meals to providing transportation to holding up and supporting a dear friend in the shower because she was too weak from cancer treatment to stand up on her own, Josephine went above and beyond the call. Her devotion to God, family, and loved ones was unmatched and unending.

Josephine enjoyed many interests and hobbies such as needlework, sewing, gardening, reading, traveling, dancing, cooking and baking. Her peach cobbler and other homemade sweets and treats will be fondly remembered by her three grandchildren.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Hanson, her parents, three brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by daughters Vickie (Griffin), Lake Wales, Florida, Brenda, Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Glenda, Tecumseh, Oklahoma; grandson John Wiles and wife Isabel, Dallas, Texas; grandson Jason Wiles and wife Jennifer, New Albany, Ohio; granddaughter Julie Wiles, Babson Park, Florida; great-grandchildren Olivia and Liam Wiles, Dallas, Texas; special niece Shearon Newland, Peoria, Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews. Last and certainly not least, Josephine is survived by her constant companion for the past five years her fur-baby Gracie Jo Brewer, she will be dearly missed by her favorite UBER driver.
