OBITUARY from the Greeley Tribune, 29 Apr 2005:

“Junior” R.F. Sharp, 79, of Greeley died Thursday, April 28, at his home.

He was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Kersey to Rudolph Franklin and Julia Ann (Boyd) Sharp.

Mr. Sharp served in the Navy during World War II in Guam and was recalled during the Korean Conflict.

For several years, he owned the Downtown Texaco and Sharp’s Huskey Station.

He was dearly loved by his sons. He liked goose hunting, golf, bowling and Bingo. He was always seen in shorts, no matter the weather. All the girls were “sweetee,” no matter their name.

Survivors include his sons, Terry Sharp and Douglas Sharp, both of Greeley; a brother Kenny Sharp, also of Greeley; a grandson, Zachary Sharp, and a granddaughter, Emma Sharp, both of Texas; nieces and nephews; and his friends at the Paragon Restaurant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe Sharp and Bus Sharp; and two stepbrothers, Ray Bailey and Jim Bailey.

Memorial services will be presented by American Legion Post 18 at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the post, 1428 7th Ave., Greeley.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sharp Memorial Fund in care of Northern Colorado Crematory, 700 8th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
