James Hoyt Ashley, 90, of Fort Payne, passed away, Friday, January 29, 2021. He was born January 7, 1931 to the late Harrison Dewey Ashley and Zella Mae Spears Ashley. He served in the United State Air Force from 1950 to 1954. Mr. Ashley was a carpenter by trade and worked for many years at Word Lumber and Builders Supply. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and a second generation member of Masonic Lodge #697 of Fyffe.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Will Ramage officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen Ashley; daughter Jeanie Ferrell and husband, Lynnwood; grandchildren, Ashley Jones (Zach) and Jonathan Whitmire (Autumn); and great-grandson, Braylon Whitmire.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Harrison Ashley and brother, Gene Ashley.
