Johnny, 94, of Glenmora, died due to complications of COVID, two soulmates (Johnny and Lora Mae) were called home within hours of each other on Monday, January 25th, 2021 in the Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital of Alexandria. He was born August 15th, 1926 in San Augustine, Texas to the union of Henry Thomas Barton Sr. and Mary D. Winegeart. After serving his country for 20 years in the United States Army, Johnny retired from his active duties. He was often heard saying “I am a senior citizen with a sense of humor” and he would tell you a joke. Johnny loved to fish and duck hunt on Cocodrie Lake. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Johnny and Lora Mae were dedicated and faithful members of the Davis Crossing Baptist Church family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Barton Sr.; one daughter, Roberta Henson; two brothers, Henry T. Barton Jr. and Edwin L. Barton Sr.; and one sister, Yonnie F. Paine.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Lora Mae Barton of Glenmora; one son, Richard Barton and his wife, Connie of Wakefield; one daughter, Diane Perry and her husband, Darrell of Forest Hill; sixteen grandchildren, Trent Barton, Jeremy Lemieux, Allen Barton, Ben Oliveaux, Joe Oliveaux, Brandon Henson, Jonathon Henson, Jessica Hearn, Adam Oliveaux, Matthew Tate, Mandy Reagan, Kandy Dousay, Valerie Herring, Andrew Tate, Emily Barton and Darson Tate; thirty-nine great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
