Robert Hugh Casey

May 29, 1962 - December 26, 2020

Robert Hugh Casey, age 58 of Ventura, California, died on December 26, 2020 of heart failure in Harmon Canyon while on a day hike with his good friend Wes Eaton. Robert grew up very near where he died on the east end of Ventura. He went to Juanamaria Elementary then Cabrillio Junior High, graduating from Buena High School June of 1981. In high school, he was a serious athlete with a true talent in most sports, but his love was golf. Back in those days, he worked for his father, Bob Casey, at OCO Tool Company on Ventura Avenue. For the last 12 years, he worked for United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles (UCPLA) in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties as a Community Living Specialist. He was very much loved by his clients and co-workers.

The family would like to thank Wes Eaton, fellow hikers, and the responding EMT's in their valiant efforts to save him. He is survived by his mother Johanna Casey, brother Warren Casey, and sister Joanne Nickel. Robert loved the ocean and riding waves with his friend Wes, so his ashes will be spread at sea near where his father's ashes were spread seven years ago. The family does not have any plans for a memorial until after our communities are in a safer place with the pandemic. If you would like to donate something in his name, you can donate to the Ventura Humane Society.
