Retired Master Sergeant Theodore "Ted" "Sarge" Cossitt, 77, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
Mr. Cossitt was a native of New York, lived throughout the United States during his military career, and the past 40 years in Chattanooga. Mr. Cossitt retired in 1982 from the United States Marine Corps with 21 years of service. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. After his retirement, he continued his military service by becoming a reservist with the Marine Corps for ten years. As a civilian Mr. Cossitt worked as a security officer with Uniguard Security for thirteen years and he also worked for B & R Plumbing. He was a member of the Vietnam Veteran of America, chapter 203 and he enjoyed volunteering his time with Toys for Tots. Mr. Cossitt was a work-a-holic enjoyed remodeling, and working puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Cossitt; parents, Bernard and Adelaide Cossitt; grandson, Gary Huskey, Jr.; granddaughter, Ashley Boyd; and brother; Fred Cossitt.
Survivors include three daughters; Leann (Scott) Miller, Natasha Stephens and Cristy (Gary) Huskey; sons, Theodore Cossitt, II and William Boyd; sister, Bonnie (Dan) Dixon; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Condolences may be shared at lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 12 noon in the South Crest Chapel with Brother David Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 pm with full military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps.
