Thirteen children were born to the union; of the children Katie and Maria died in infancy. Joseph died at the age of nine years; John, Henry, Mary and Peter grew up to adult estate and have preceded her to the great beyond. Mrs. Ella Vandergrift of LeMars, Iowa, Mrs. O. Spellum of EauClaire, Wis., George of Donald, Wis., Mrs. Edwin Pejot, Chicago, Thomas of Rock Rapids, Ia., and William and Charles of Shullsburg.
Her husband departed this life in Nov. 1911 and in Nov. 1912 she went to live with her daughter Mrs. Pejot in Chicago where she resided until her death. She was taken with lagrippe about two weeks ago her condition grew worse penumonia developed and on the morning of the 11th she departed this life. She was a good mother and all of her children journed to Chicgao to look upon the withered face and say a loving adieu to the mother who cradled them and guided them through the perils of youth and strengthened their manhood and womanhood by her good council.
Besides her children she leaves one sister, Mrs. N.O. Tregonning of this township, one brother, Jonathan Dawson of Pittsville, Wis. and several grandchildren.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. church and intemrent made in the Evergreen cemetery.
