Death on Thursday of Alison Fancher

Deming Headlight Tuesday November 16, 1926 page 1

Alison Fancher, age 89 years, father of Mrs. C. O. Donaldson of this city, died Thursday, November 11th, at 7:30 a.m. at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson, 221 West Maple, where he had been making his home.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the Presbyterian church, the Rev. William Sickles presiding. The body was then held until Saturday morning when it was shipped to his former home in Fairmont, Minn., where interment was made beside the grave of his wife, who died nineteen years ago. The remains were accompanied by C. O. Donaldson as far as Kansas City, where A. R. Fancher, one of the sons of the deceased met him and took charge of the body during the remaining portion of the journey to Fairmont. Mr. Donaldson immediately took the first train back to Deming and is expected to arrive here today.

Alison Fancher was born May 18th, 1837, in Rensselaerville, Albany county, New York. In his early youth he moved to Illinois, where he was married later. He served in the Civil War in Company F, 105th Regiment Illinois Infantry of the 20th Army Corps. After the close of the war, he moved to southern Minnesota, where he served as the county official for sixteen years. In 1911 he came to Deming to escape the rigorous winters of that norther latitude, and had been making his home with Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Donaldson ever since.

Besides his daughter, Mrs. C O. Donaldson, the deceased is survived by three adult sons: Lucius B. of Portland, Ore., Merton E., of St. Peter, and Anza R. of Fairmont, Minn.

Mr. Fancher's death was the result of complications which are usually to be anticipated by one of his advanced years. He had been confined to his home for a period of nearly two years. Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson are being extended heartfelt sympathy of their host of true friends in this locality.
