Funeral Riles Held Here For Mrs. Applewhite

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Holmes Applewhite, 86, were held on Wednesday, October 11, at 1:00, from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Forest, with Rev. John Case officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery in Kilmichael, Mississippi, with Ott & Lee Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Applewhite passed away Monday, at Beech Haven Nursing Home in Jackson, following an extended illness.

She was a native of Kilmichael, but had lived in Forest for the past twenty years. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Purcell Holmes, who was the founder of the first store in Kilmichael. She was a charter member of the W. S. C. S. in the Methodist Church in Kilmichael and was very active in church affairs.

She was preceded in death by her son, Holmes Applewhite of Indianola.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. L. O. Atkins of Forest; one granddaughter; three grandsons; and two nieces.

Pallbearers were Charles Thomas, McClain Hatch, Harold Gray, Billy Armstrong, Paul Hood, and Jimmy Costilow.
