Nelda M. Fowler, 72 of Palatka, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka. Nelda was a homemaker and a member of Peniel Baptist Church. She loved cooking, canning and enjoyed spending time in the mountains.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L.H. "Bud" and Hazel Armstrong, and a grandson, Matt Moody.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Coy Fowler; three daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Jimmie Moody and Jill and Mike Brown, all of Palatka, and Jeanne and Mike Derring of St. Augustine; five grandchildren, Mandy Tussing and husband, Jimmy of St. Augustine, Jess Gale of Statesboro, Ga., Jordan Brown of Palatka, Mike Derring and Alexandria Derring; three great-grandchildren, Brittney Tussing, Lacey Tussing and Matt Tussing; two brothers, Charlie Armstrong and wife Charlotte of Salt Springs, and Glen Armstrong of Palatka; two sisters, Annette Swearingen and husband Wayne of Salt Springs and Terri Lynn Pope and husband Dan of Oklawaha.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 at Peniel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka.
