Kathy was born in Drumright, OK on June 20, 1929 and was an only child of Hazel Williams Metcalf (passed in 2003) & Condra Cecil Dean (passed in 1971). She had two half-siblings, Flossie Dean Diamond (living) and Jimmy Dean (deceased). Kathy married Darrell R. Gardner on August 24, 1951 in Kansas City MO (passed in 1994).
Kathy is survived by 3 of her 4 children: She has 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Her eldest son, Howard R. Endicott Gardner passed in 2010.
Kathy graduated from Cushing High School in Cushing, OK in May 1946. In 1949 she started her family, spending the next 26 years raising her children; and another 45 years enjoying her family as it grew! She was a housewife and co-business owner with Darrell Gardner for 16 years.
Kathy was a fun-loving supportive wife, kind and generous with her time. She enjoyed all activities shared by her husband and family, such as sailing the San Juan Islands, Gulf of Mexico, and SF Bay; she was an excellent cook, using recipes from Betty Crocker (modified with her Midwest/Southern influences) and those shared by friends and family. Music (Elvis/Kenny Rogers/Patsy Cline) was an important part of her life while cooking, relaxing at home or dancing with Darrell in the living room or out. She absolutely loved going out for "Steak, Lobster or Mexican food" or simply BBQ'g at home with family.
Kathy will be remembered for taking Pride in her Appearance, being highly organized, meticulous, an Independent thinker, Self-reliant, Confident and Stubborn in a good way! Kathy collected a variety of fun things like Dolphin Wind Chimes and figurines. She also enjoyed ceramics, yardwork (Roses/Jade plants), assembling photo albums, her dog "Chico" and her '92 Camaro. Her most favorite hobbies were shopping for clothes and shoes, movies, gossip magazines, ocean vacations, drinking champagne and watching "The Golden Girls". She lived a simple Christian life!
