Samuel V. Davis, 88, of Dawson, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 14, 2021.

Sam was born on January 14, 1933, in Lincoln, IL. the son of Caliph L. and Nancy C. (Garner) Davis. He married Joan Kitchen on August 7, 1952. Sam served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956, then went to work for Fiat-Allis as an electrician. He was a member of VFW Post 755, Fiat-Allis Retirees Group and enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. Sam was an avid ballroom dancer, Little League Coach, Sunday School Teacher and a self-taught musician who enjoyed playing his harmonica at local nursing homes.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dean, Duppie and Bus; four sisters Viola, Jean, Nancy and Bernice.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons Samuel Bruce, Jeff, and Pat; two daughters, Vicki and Terri (Craig); five grandchildren, Erica, Kimberly, Melissa, Michael and Hannah; seven great grandchildren, William, Alivia, Jaiden, Isla, Nolan, Talan and Eden and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private family graveside services will be held with Reverend Larry Hanson and burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail will perform Military Honors.
