Rev Marvin J. Eiland passed away June 27, 2017 in Starke, Florida. He was born in Odessa, Florida in Pasco County in 1924, where he spent his childhood years. In 1999, the Eiland family was honored in Dade City as one of the founding families of Pasco County and was represented by memorials on the courthouse square. Marvin Eiland entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in the Far East and the European areas of the conflict in an armored cavalry recon unit. He was personally involved in the liberation of several of the Nazi death camps. After the war, he married Lille Mae Triest of Starke, Florida. Mr. Eiland was ordained into the gospel ministry in 1954 and together with Lillie served several churches in Florida. They were active in beginning new missions - one being the First Baptist Church of Inglis where he was the founding pastor. Rev. Eiland also served churches in South Carolina and Mississippi. He was active in Southern Baptists missions programs and served as chairman of the Tallahatchee County, Mississippi Baptist Missions Committee. After serving as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Inglis for the second time, Rev. Eiland retired from active ministry in 1989. Mr. Eiland was preceded in death by his son, Terry and wife Lille. His son Andrew Eiland, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive him. This obituary was written by: Marvin Eiland.
