Josh was the son of Stephen Malcolm and Susan Elizabeth "Sudie" (Tippett) English.

G. W. ENGLISH
G. W. (Josh) English, former county commissioner and court clerk of Jefferson County, died at 6:00 p. m. Friday, November 1, at the Ryan City Hospital. Death at 79 came after a long illness.

Funeral services were conducted November 3, from the Ryan Church of Christ with Mr. Johnny Baker as officiant. Burial was in the Ryan cemetery under the direction of Grantham Funeral Home. Masons were in charge of graveside services.

Pallbearers were Dewey Nash, W. L. Givens, Gill Bond, Dowden Harris, Peck Willis and Earl Phillips, all of Ryan.

Born December 10, 1877, in Johnson County, Texas, English moved to Oklahoma Territory in 1895. On January 10, 1904, he married Miss Minnie Gray at Ryan.

English was a member of the Church of Christ, the Masonic Lodge and the Odd Fellows.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Clifford of Duncan and Cecil English of Long Beach, Calif; one daughter, Mrs W. C. Johnston of Weston, Wyoming; nine grand-children; and two great-grandchildren.
