Cletis V. Johnston, 86, of Waurika died Monday, April 5, 1999, in the Jefferson County Hospital.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Ryan Cemetery with Noel Curington, minister of Waurika Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Willis C. Worley & Sons Funeral Home in Waurika.

Cletis Veatrice English was born Jan 20, 1913, in Ryan to Minnie and Josh English. She was the youngest of their four children and grew up in Ryan and attended Ryan Public Schools.

She married W.C. "Dub" Johnston on Nov 7, 1933, in Terral. He preceded her in death in 1985.

They owned and operated a ranch in Gillette, Wyo., and spent time between Ryan and Gillette. In 1963, the settled in Ryan and in 1973, they moved to Waurika.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Ryan First Baptist Church.

Survivors included a son, Bill Johnston and his wife, Barbara, of Waurika; a daughter, Janice Fieldgrove and her husband, Cecil, of buffalo, Wyo.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tommie Ann Skelton, in 1982.
