Everson, Washington - Brian Hahnel, age 71, passed away on December 30th, 2020 at home.

Brian was born in Bellingham, WA on July 17, 1949. He graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1967. In 1968, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served six years, including three tours aboard the USS Oriskany (CVA-34).

Brian was a witty, mischievous, bright, hard-working, generous, and caring man. He loved cooking a hearty meal for his friends and family, gardening, tinkering in the garage, reading, old movies, and colorful jokes. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he flourished being their "Boompa." Brian was a caregiver at heart and served many years a respiratory therapist and registered nurse.

Preceding him in death are his parents Alfred and Luella Hahnel; brother Greg Hahnel; and beloved daughter Allison Hahnel.

Brian is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elaine; son Brandon (Olivia) Hahnel; grandchildren Clive and Eliza; sister Debbie (Nancy) Hahnel; sister-in-law Judi Hahnel; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many life-long friends.

Brian will be laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.
