Joseph C. Gentry, 97, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on January 10, 2021. Joseph was born on August, 3 1923 in Wayne County, Missouri to Charlie and Lucy Gentry. Joseph entered the United States Army in 1943 and became a Decorated WWII Veteran. He had two long careers; retiring from National Lock and Sears Auto, where he worked as a mechanic. Joseph was a member of Silver Hill Pentecostal Church. Joseph served God and his Country but always made time for his family and gardening.

Joseph is survived by his wife Eva Gentry; children, Virginia Gentry and Gary Gentry; step daughter, Leoma Meadors; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vernice Gentry; children, Charles Gentry, Mary Sullivan, and Marjorie Gentry; step children, Bill and Linda.

A Walk Through visitation was held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115). A Private Family Service will follow the Visitation. Entombment will follow the Service.
