Eva F. Gentry, 95, of Rockford IL, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021. She was born on November 12, 1925 to Arthur and Flora Young in Delaplaine Arkansas. Eva was devoted to her faith, her family, and loving her life. She was a member of Silver Hill United Pentecostal Church, and she enjoyed spending her time there. Eva ran the church’s Ladies Auxiliary, taught Sunday school, as well as served as a sanctuary greeter in her later years. She was a woman of many talents including gardening, quilting, crocheting, singing, and cooking. She loved life, she enjoyed traveling, and had a great sense of humor. Eva knew the value of kindness, and a smile. She treated everyone she met with an open heart and kind smile. Eva was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Children naturally loved Eva for her playful personality. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her daughter; Leoma (Bill) Meadors of Missouri, her grandchildren, Tammy Knowlton of Kansas, Pam Knowlton of Kansas, Jim (Judy) Hawks of Florida, Janet (Loren) Roser of Illinois, Steve (Brenda) Hawks of Illinois, as well as Chrisy Reid of Illinois. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles D. Reid in 1987, as well as her husband Joseph Gentry in 2021. Her son, Billy C. Reid in 2007, daughter, Linda F. Hawks in 2010, her parents; Arthur and Flora, as well as her siblings Harold and Alvin Joe “AJ” Young.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday 1/28/21 at 1p.m. at Silver Hill United Pentecostal Church. 4401 20th St, Rockford, IL 61109. A visitation will be at 12p.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
