Norman “Walt” Walter LaPeer, age 83 passed away at home in Afton on January 9, 2021. He was born in Afton on January 23, 1937 and was the last surviving child of Norman and Margaret (Bradley) LaPeer. He was preceded in death by brothers Albert, William, Thomas and Fulford and sisters Vera (Melvin) Baker and Lauretta Chromicz. Walt is survived by wife Julia Jane (Constable), daughter Julia Margaret LaPeer of Harrison Twp., MI, son Norman Anthony LaPeer of Mt. Clemens, MI, brotherin- law Joseph Chromicz of Indian River, MI, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Walt graduated from Inland Lakes High School in 1955. He worked for several railroads out of Detroit as a conductor until his retirement in 1992 then moved back to Afton.

Walt was a golfer and sportsman and always planted a large garden. A memorial will be planned in the Spring. The family is served by Stone Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Indian River.
