CHEBOYGAN - Thomas R. LaPeer, 72, of Cheboygan, passed away Friday, June 27, 2003 at home. Tom was born June 15, 1931, in Afton, the son of Norman and Catherine (Bradley) Lapeer who preceded him in death.

Tom was employed with the New York/Central Railroad as a section foreman for 28 years retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Eagles and Knights of Columbus of Cheboygan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Cheboygan; two daughters, Lona (Ron) Clairmont, Robin (Jim) Blakely, both of South Wayland; three sons, Rance of Mackinaw City, Thomas Jr. (Candy) of Warren and Cash of Detroit; step-children Russ (Bobbi) Campeau of Pellston, Mike Campeau of Cheboygan, Eddie (Dana) Campeau of Pennsylvania, Tim (Melissa) Campeau of Kalkaska, Beverly (John) Stewart of Cheboygan and Peggy (Curt) Maybank of Cheboygan; brothers Bill and Walt (Julie) both of Afton; sisters Vera Jean (Melvin) Baker of Afton and Lauretta (Joseph) Chromicz of Indian River; sisters-in-law Anna Belle LaPeer and Rita LaPeer, both of Afton; and a brother-in-law, Orion Ormsbee of Afton. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Fulford; and a sister, Nora Ormsbee. Per his wishes, no services are planned at this time. Arrangements are being handled by the Christian Funeral Home. Published in the Cheboygan Daily Tribune, June 30, 2003.
