Wayne Riley, 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Oct. 22, 2015 at home. He was born Oct. 12, 1927, to Robert F. and Nelle D. Riley at Coffeyville [KS.] Memorial Hospital, the youngest of six siblings. The family lived in Valeda, KS., then Topeka, KS., then to Neodesha, KS. where he graduated from high school in 1945.

Upon graduation he enlisted in the Victory plus 12 Program with the US Navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, then Conn. In 1947 Wayne entered Baker Univ. and studied pre-engineering. He left school in 1949 to marry Margaret "Peg" Williams on Aug. 14. After several short term jobs he obtained his desired position at Standard Oil Co., later AMOCO, where he worked for 35 years. During his career he worked and lived in Egypt, No. Dakota, Trinidad, West Indies, and New Mexico. After retiring at age 59 he and Peg moved to Kearney, Mo. where they worked as realtors and where he obtained his brokers license. Then, after working for six years for the EPA in the Kansas City area, he and Peg retired to Bella Vista, Ark. where he drove a school bus until age 79.

Wayne was a serious vegetable gardener and also planted gladiolas. He was Pres. of the Neodesha Music Club in 1958, was a Boy Scout leader, and took the family on numerous trips to the lake where they camped, swam, skied, and fished. Wayne was a crafty bridge player, donated 10 gallons of blood during his lifetime, and he and Peg were great dancers. He was very active at his church and served in several capacities, he sang with the Bella Vista Men's Choir, and for the past nine years, was Peg's caretaker after her diagnosis of Alzeimer's disease. They were married for 66 years.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Leo, Earl, and Eugene. He is survived by his wife Margaret, of Bella Vista, Ark., children Michael of Columbia, MO., Joe of Bismarck, ND., and Colleen of Manhattan, KS., and their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Lois Johnson of Austin, TX. and Dorothy Lucille Hall of Hiawatha, KS.

Services will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, Ark. at 1 pm on Fri., Nov. 6, 2015. Contributions in his memory may be gifted to the Compassion Ministry at the church. Online condolences may be made to www.funeralmation.com.
