Sarah Ellen Mitchell married John Raines (son of Steven Raines) on 18 June 1869 in Fayette County, TX. On the 1870 census McLennan, TX her mother Sarah Ann Keeney has remarried to John Albright. On the 1870 census Washington County, TX, Sarah Ellen is with John Raines and daughter Mary Jeanette. John's mother died when he was young and John was raised by his grandmother Elizabeth Jackson Raines. John came to Washington county, Texas with his grandmother, father and siblings about 1852. Sarah Ellen and John Raines separated. John changed his name from John M. Raines to John Gibbs Raines and went to work for the railroad. (D.N.A. testing proves that John M. and John Gibbs Raines are the same person.) John moved to Camp County, Texas where he remarried to Mazie Emily Nipper on 24 May 1885. Sarah remarried to R. Thomas Rayburn on 30 May 1880 in Waco, McLennan, Tx. On the June 1880 census Sarah Ellen is in McLennan County. Sarah and John moved to Garvin County, Oklahoma for the 1910 census. They went to Elmira, Chemung, New York and were married on 13 Nov 1913. The 3rd marriage for both, Sarah was not divorced (must be widowed), John was divorced from his previous wife in March of 1903 at Wellsboro, Pa. Sarah and John are in Garvin County, Ok for the 1920 census. John died on 04 March 1925. On the 1930 census Sarah is at Lindsay, Garvin, Ok lodger in h/h of W H Smith.
