Larry Galen Carpenter
Green Bay - Larry Galen Carpenter, Green Bay, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Bellin Memorial Hospital. Larry was born in 1940 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Galen F. Carpenter and Ethel (Felmlee) Carpenter. He attended the University of Colorado and graduated from Western State University with a degree in Business Administration and Psychology. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol (Cooper) Carpenter in 1961. Larry worked for E.I. DuPont in the Explosives Division as an area marketing manager. His sales region included Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. Larry and Carol lived in Colorado, New York, (Larry worked in the Empire State Building) Ohio, Delaware, and lastly, Green Bay, their home for the last forty-four years.
When Larry wasn't traveling for work, he was a real family man. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son, and he and his daughter trained and ran the Bellin Run when she was in high school. We also snow skied, and enjoyed several ski trips to Colorado and other destinations in the west. In the summers we enjoyed spending the weekend on our boat and exploring Door County, with our wonderful friends.
Throughout his entire life, Larry loved to escape to Leadville, Colorado to our family cabin at Home Stake Trout Club where we fished, hiked, biked, and enjoyed the breathtaking mountains. Larry always said it was his Heaven on earth.
After retirement, Larry and Carol traveled all around the country, playing golf and enjoying our beautiful country. Larry took up carving ducks, swans, loons, and fish. It was an artistic outlet for him. We enjoyed our granddaughters after they were born and spent many happy days watching them grow into beautiful young women. Carol and Larry just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Larry was a kind and caring husband that will be missed very much.
He is survived by his wife, Carol and their two children, Lorie Carpenter-Niska (Kurt) and Jeffrey Galen Carpenter (Melissa). Jeff and Melissa are the parents of our two granddaughters, Lindsay Jane Carpenter and Annie Lee Carpenter. He has two sisters; Verna Mae Hill, (Robert) and Norma Jean Grow.
Lyndahl Funeral Home is assisting the family and due to Covid-19, no formal services will be held. There will be a celebration of his life next summer in Colorado with his entire family.
