Rites in Waukegan for Former Decatur Resident

Funeral services were held in Waukegan Wednesday for Merrell H. Hatcher, 49, Waukegan, formerly of Decatur. Mr. Hatcher was general manager of the Armour & Co. plant in Waukegan for the last eight years. He died Sunday after an illness of three months. Mr. Hatcher was born on May 4, 1909, in Decatur a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hatcher, and married in November 1935 to Hildegard Gauer in Decatur. Mr. Hatcher worked in the Herald and Review collection department for 2 1/2 years before joining the Decatur plant of Armour & Co. in 1932. He also worked for Armour in Springfield and Chicago. He was a member of the Waukegan-North Chicago Chamber of Commerce. He leaves his wife, two daughters, Karen and Sheila, all at home at 1118 Atlantic Ave., Waukegan, his parents, of Decatur, three sisters, Mrs. Robert Logan, Mrs. William Eisele, both of Decatur, and Mrs. Paul Rickords, of Pleasant Ridge, Mich.
