BERNICE LAWSON
(1947-2021)

Mrs. Bernice Rose Lawson, age 73, of Soldier, Kentucky, passed away Thursday evening, January 7, 2021, at St. Claire Healthcare Center in Morehead, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 9, 1947, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ray and Nola Middleton Clark.

Bernice was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Joe Lawson; one grandson, Joshua Jenkins; a special brother-in-law, who was her best friend, Ott Lunsford; and a niece, Robin Howard.

She was feisty and full spunk, always a social butterfly. Bernice loved a good conversation. She loved meeting and interacting with people, having yard sales, going to auctions, and to “wheel and deal”.—Bernice loved a good bargain. She was a testimony to many medical miracles and the power of prayer. Bernice faithfully watched WLGC Gospel hour and she loved worshiping God. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, loving mother, and an amazing “Mamaw Mack”. Bernice always put her family first and was a wealth of wisdom. She was an amazing cook who loved nothing more than meals with her family around the table. Bernice was the rock of the family and a pillar of the community. She was always the first to call when anything happened or anyone needed anything in the community and was quick to spring to action. Bernice loved participating in the Soldier to Soldier project, delivering packages to active duty Soldiers, and the Meals on Wheels program. She loved helping others and making people happy. Her legacy will live on and this world is a better place because she was in it. In the words of her grandson, Seth, “Mamaw Mack will always be with us, because she’s with the Lord and the Lord is always with us.”

Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bobby Joe Lawson; one son, Bobby Lawson (Cindy) of Soldier, Kentucky; one daughter, Roseanna Whitt of Grayson, Kentucky; six grandsons, Adam, Derick (Mary), PJ, Brandon, Jake and her partner in crime, Seth; nine great grandchildren, Bentley, Victoria, Emma, Myla, Ryker, Audree, Alex, Wade, and Charlie; one brother, Billy Clark (Glenna) of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; one sister, Delphia Clark of Soldier, Kentucky; and a host of family and friends who will miss her greatly, including her niece, Regina Adkins and nephew, Brian Middleton, who referred to her as a mother figure and she loved them as her own.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery in Elliott County, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2021, and after 10 a.m. Sunday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
