James Ronald Overton, 90, of Yuba City, CA, passed away on January 7, 2021. He was born November 18, 1930, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Thomas and Clara Overton, growing up on the Overton family farm in McFarland, WV.

Jim is survived by his sons, David Overton (Terri) of Yuba City, CA, Raymond Overton (Michelle) of Yuba City, CA; his grandchildren, Tiffany Schomer (Luke) of Virginia Beach, VA, Craig Overton of Yuba City, CA, Shane Overton (Teresa) of Marysville, CA, and Travis Fleming of Yuba City, CA.

Jim was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of over 60 years, Reta Overton, all 6 of his siblings, and many nieces and nephews.

In his early twenties, Jim decided to leave the family farm in McFarland to follow in his brother's footsteps, by joining the United States Air Force. There he spent over 21 years seeing the world. He met and married his beloved, Reta in Oklahoma. Together they raised their boys, Dave and Ray and took them with them around the US and the world. Being stationed at Hahn Air Base in Germany, was the source of timeless family memories that will forever be reminisced about at every Overton family gathering for years to come. After a year in Vietnam, Jim returned, and the family was sent to Beale Air Force Base, where he would spend the last few years of his service working with the SR71. Jim retired as an NCO and made the Yuba City area his new home.

Upon his retirement, Jim began his long and successful career in the Real Estate business. Blessed with the gift of gab, Jim enjoyed teaching Real Estate courses at Yuba College as well as being a member of Toastmasters. He went on to own and operate Appraisal Associates for many years until his final retirement at the young age of 80.

After the passing of his beloved wife of over 60 years, Jim kept their standing dinner date every Thursday night at Marcello's Restaurant by employing his grandson Craig and sometimes other guests to join him. The Overton family is forever grateful for the love and kindness Octavio, Alma, and the entire Marcello's staff showed Jim and his family over the years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Disabled American Veterans or a charity of your choice.

There will be a Military Honor guard and a time for those who want to say a few things for Jim on Wednesday 1/20/2021 at 2:00 PM at the Sutter Cemetery in Sutter.
