Willie Mae Parker, 88, went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2020. She was born June 13, 1932 in Marshallville, Ga, to Henry and Julia Cosby. She relocated to Akron, Ohio, where she created a life and family of her own. She retired from Kent State University after serving for over 20 years, and was a member of People's Baptist Church. Willie Mae was a very courageous woman, who loved dancing with her husband and cooking for her family and friends. She was preceded in death and now reunited with her husband, Jack Parker Sr.; and sons, Jack Parker Jr. and Supino Parker. She is profoundly loved and will be greatly missed in the community, by her friends, and her family. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Dolores Young, Dora Little, and Denise D. Hicks. Grandchildren, Richard (Keya) McLaughlin, Monique Lewis, Savannah (Jean-Claude) François, Anthony Hicks, Chauncey Parker, Jacquelyn Little, Jefferson Hicks, and Taylor Harris. Great-grandchildren, Rikia and Richard McLaughlin Jr.; Cassidy, Chauncey Jr., and Channing Parker; Jean-Claude III and Kennedy-Jeannise François, and host of other relatives and friends. Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 2 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Private graveside service to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
