Entered into rest on January 4, 2021, at the age of 99. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Mary; beloved son, C. Todd Hartford; daughter-in-law, Barbra, brothers, Edward, Kenneth, William; sisters, Anita Taylor, Beulah Kostecki, Marion Pinney.
He is survived by his children, Dale (Larry) Bailey of Geneseo, Gary (Gretchen) Hartford of Caledonia, John (Phyllis Donaldson) Hartford of Florida, Sue (Tom) Skeffington of Liverpool, daughter-in-law, Vicki Hartford of Caledonia; fourteen beloved grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Connor; many nieces and nephews; his longtime companion and dance partner, Corine Coates and her family of Scottsville.
Cliff was born on February 28, 1921 in East Avon and grew up in Littleville, where he named himself “Mayor of Littleville.” Cliff attended the Littleville Academy until the 9th grade. He graduated from the Avon High School in 1940. He was married to Mary Callan in 1941.
Cliff was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving at the Banana River Naval Air Station during WWII.
He attended RIT and was a 44 year employee of Rochester Products division of General Motors. Cliff was a volunteer of the Caledonia Fire Department, and was the last surviving member of the Mumford VFW. He also coached little league for many years. Cliffy’s greatest joy was attending his grandkids sporting events and regaling everyone with his endless war stories.
The family sincerely thanks the wonderful staff at the Le Roy Village Green for the loving care they gave to Cliff.
His Burial will be private. A Memorial Service is planned for a later date.
In Cliff’s memory, hug your loved ones, tell a good story, look up an old friend and have a Budweiser.
