September 18, 1941 - December 30, 2020

Cynthia Elisabeth "Beth" Crosswhite Staton, aged 79, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, in Manassas, Va.

She was born on September 18, 1941, in Roanoke, Virginia to the late James Elmo and Frances Spradlin Crosswhite.

She grew up in Salem, Virginia where she graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1959. She attended National Business College before her marriage to Robert Staton and having her two sons, Kimball and Bradley. After her divorce in 1971, she started her careers with Blue Cross Blue Shield (15 years) and Shenandoah Life Insurance Company (27 years) where she met her lifelong friends. She attended Virginia Western Community College at night for five years before she earned her Associate Degree. She loved to travel and had been to Europe three times. She retired in 2004 and spent three months in Germany with her son, Bradley and his husband, Matthew and really enjoyed traveling and trying new foods. She and her mother were inseparable and enjoyed many things together, including traveling and going shopping. Beth enjoyed being with her friends. She and her "Blue Cross" friends would play poker quite frequently. She enjoyed her time and dinners with her "Ya-Ya's" and the "Pah's". She loved going to movies and having dinners with her "Oak Grove" friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She, like her mother, loved spending time with her family. She was known for her vivacious laugh and sense of humor. She will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Kimball Staton (Lisa) of Roanoke, Va. and Bradley Staton (Matthew) of Manassas, Va.; her grandchildren, Jami Staton of Salem, Va. and Shannon Gibson (Michael) of Roanoke, Va.; her great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Cally, Kori and Lexi. She is also survived by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Rebecca Crosswhite of New Castle, Va. and her uncle and aunt, Louis and Sylvia Spradlin of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be a private graveside service at Sherwood Memorial Park in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please provide donations to First Christian Church, Salem, Va.
