She was born in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, on Nov. 14, 1924, to George Whenry and Arnetta Jenkins Whenry.
She married Fred Bell Jr. on April 24, 1947. He preceded her in death in September of 1981.
Betty was a former Springfield Township Tax collector and retired from Grove City school cafeteria. She had also worked at the Hallmark Store.
She was a longtime member of The Church of Beloved Disciple of Grove City, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the "Apple Dumpling Gang."
Betty's fondest moments were sitting in the bleachers watching her sons and grandchildren participate in an athletic event. Betty was an avid supporter of all Grove City High School sports.
Her hobbies included line dancing and all types of crafts. She especially enjoyed making a Christmas craft with all her grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, Frederick "Fred" Lee (Deneen) Bell of Salem, S.C.; Thomas G. (Kathy) Bell of Mercer; Jeffery A. (Diane) Bell of Grove City; Robert S. (Sindy) Bell of Greenville; sister, Jane (Ray) Frankenburg of Grove City; brother, Richard "Dick" (Marian) Whenry of Mercer; grandchildren, Justin (Crystal) Bell; Shawn (Vesta) Bell; Carley (Kenton) Patterson; Brett Bell; Beau Bell; Bethany Williams and companion, Arturo Solis; Anna (Billy) Leahy; Sarah Bell and companion, Justin Scofield; great-grandchildren, Maddox Bell; Aylah Patterson; Mileena Williams; Raiden Williams; Zara Bell; Johnathan Bell; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael Scott; brothers, William "Sonny" and David Whenry; infant brother George Jr.; andtwo sisters, Helen (Vonnie) Urey and Norma June Priester.
The family would like to thank special staff at Orchard Manor and Allegheny Hospice for their caring support.
Memorial contributions may be given to Grove City High School for the sports program or to enhance the building in areas to benefit cafeteria personnel staff.
