Mr. Alton Whitaker, III, of Lancaster, husband of Virginia “Pat” Whitaker passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born February 16, 1949 in Lancaster, a son of the late Alton Whitaker, Jr. and Mary Grier Whitaker.

Alton was a US Army Vietnam War Veteran and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He had retired from Grace Bleachery. He was an avid Clemson fan who enjoyed fishing and watching movies.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Whitaker will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Trent McLaughlin officiating.

Mr. Whitaker is survived by his wife, Virginia “Pat” Whitaker; a son, Justin Johnson of Lancaster; four daughters, Terri Curtis (Bobby), Lisa Stogner (Scott), Angie Liqua (Scott) all of Lancaster and Alisha Whitaker of Kershaw; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by a son, Alton Whitaker, IV; a daughter, Amanda Drew; a brother, Tommy Whitaker; and a sister, Cindy Whitaker.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Lancaster Funeral Home.
