Oliver Soper was a captain in the 13th MA. The 13th MA secured the neck allowing US forces to retreat from Bunker Hill, He participated in the Siege of Boston, Fought in the New York Campaign, Was part of Glover's Brigade and fought int he Battle of Pell's Point. Retreated across New Jersey and as part of Sullivan's Division crossed the Delaware with Washington and fought in the Battles of Trenton and Princeton. He was mustered out in early 1777 and returned to Bristol County MA and became active as a Militia Officer.
