Obituary.
William Skinner, aged 80 years and three days, passed away Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock after an illness of many months. Death was the result of cancer. For the past four months Mr. Skinner had been confined to his bed, and although his suffering was great, he bore his affliction with Christian fortitude.
Mr. Skinner was born in Zora,* Canada, September 18, 1834. While a child his parents moved to Indiana on the site where the town of Valparaiso was founded. On November 14, 1856, he was united to Miss Mary Wilder at Valparaiso. In 1882 Mr. and Mrs. Skinner and their family moved to Silver Lake township and with the exception of five years' residence in Minnesota, have resided since that time in Shawnee county.
Mr. Skinner has always been square and upright in his dealings with his fellow men and had the respect and regard of all whom he had dealings during his long residence.
Every care and comfort that his faithful wife and friends and neighbors could provide, was given that his period of affliction might be made easy as possible.
Mr. Skinner is survived by his widow, one son, Frank Skinner, manager of the Mirror, and one daughter, Mrs. E. O. Russell, of Winona, Minn.
The funeral was held today at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Groat, and interment made in the Silver Lake cemetery.
