Samuel Springer Skinner was born in New York State, July 16, 1824. He married, first, Amanda Child Charles, born in Ohio 1830 and died in Chicago, Illinois. No children. He married, second, April 22, 1862, Josepha Crosby. He died in Chicago, August 7, 1903, buried Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.

Chesterton Chips.
Hon. Samuel S. Skinner, one of Valparaiso's pioneer citizens, died at his residence at 6 o'clock Friday evening, Aug. 7, after a short illness. He was eighty years old, and had served as alderman, representative in the state legislature, and president of the First National Bank of Valparaiso.
